One of the worst manifestations of the Blogosphere has been the ability to sell ad-server advertising as a means of monetizing this serial gassing on the back of the enormous traffic they generate from the legion of vacuity.

Brutally put - all those Blogs received by us are immediately scheduled for deletion. So please dont waste your time submitting them.

Some do slip through, but we have invoked a programme of sytematic genocide to seek out and cleanse our listings of these vermin - power to the people!!

Members may have noticed that to date our editorial approvals policy tended to favour only English language based web sites and listings.

We have been experimenting with a variety of language translation protocols, which have proved less than satisfactory, but here's the thing:

We downloaded the latest version of Google's add ons for IE and hey presto the damn thing works so well that all attempts to re-invent the wheel have been ingloriously abandoned in favour of good old fashioned common-sense.

As a matter of course, when editing new submissions, the translator spots the precise language and offers to automatically translate the page contents.

Bar a few not un-expected quirkes, the thing works like a dream and we can generally and very rapidly get an idea about the submissions quality, such as whether the submitted resource is simpy cyber parasites or genuine web practitioners looking to promote their wares.

Now, to avoid risk of bias [and antipathy on the other hand], we happened upon Google's offering when someone in the office had personally utilised the said services.

Our enthusiasm should in no way be taken as an edorsement of the said service or a diminution of other similar products.

In any case, the upshot is that we to a far greater extent, welcome non English language submissions.

We have had several notices from users regarding listing which have their hyperlinks missing.

OK, it would appear that one of our [extremely hard working] editors missed a stage in the submission approvals procedure, which meant that when they were searching for a correct classification, this process tended to 'kick-out' the hyperlink.

Frankly it is a bug in our administration software, which should really be fixed. This will happen in due course as our site is made more powerful.

Meantime, we have instigated a programme of finding and restoring listings with said missing links. We should have this completed in due course.

As noted some weeks ago, we have now discontinued the use of the Add URL Form:

• All submissions will automatically be added to our search database
• All classifications now require full contact details
• We no longer accept web-based only submissions
• We aim to build a worldwide directory of businesses and services

Now look, we've said it on any number of occasions - the-search-site is predominantly a web directory, set up for the purposes of offering a global search for businesses, services and a wide variety of organisation types.

We therefore have a minimum requirement for our listings to present well:

• Business [Organisation] Name
• A verifiable address
• A telephone contact number
• A valid classification [which can be obtained by cycling through our extensive list]
• An email address
• A web site address with whcih our users can refer to you
• A neat and brief, appropriate description
• A location

Yes, we are aware that when marketers and business owners are traipsing through the myriad of directories, there is a sense of endlessness about completing form after form.

Whilst sympathetic, this does not help us build a high quality database to present to our users [for both our benefits]. We are also very keen to ensure that your submissions present well [for both our benefits].

We had previously been fairly flexible and made some changes to submissions in order to make them acceptable, but this has become too time consuming.

To this end, where the Add Business Form has not been completed with the above data correctly set out, your submission will simply be deleted

Please note that as a drive to make our search platform more effective, we have amalgamated the Business Directory and Web Search into one platform. In the short run and for practical purposes, this means that all submissions, irrespective of which add resource form is used, will end up on the same index.

Ultimately the Add Business Form will be the final template we will adopt for the entire search engine, since the classifications are far more specific and comprehensive. Theoretically and once the size of the database has expanded sufficiently, this should ensure that the returned results are more focussed and relevant for the purposes of locating goods/services/organisations.

Professional web marketers are strongly recommended to model their client submission programmes on the basis of the Add Business Form

The Add url form will be taken offline shortly, to make urgent updates. This will affect all but in particular autosubmitters. After the work has been completed auto-submit will be stopped as a method for indexing.

Regrettably, the issue of spam has caused several downtimes and a considerable slowing of the service. The greatest problem, however is the number of repeated sequencing of the same web page over and over again.
